The Alternate Disk Installation package allows installation of a new version of AIX Version 4.3 to another disk while the operating system is still running. You can also use this package to clone the running rootvg to another disk for backup or upgrade purposes.

The bos.alt_disk_install package requires approximately 11.2 megabytes of disk space in /usr.
bos.alt_disk_install.rte 4.3.0 and bos.alt_disk_install.boot_images 4.3.0 can be installed on AIX Version 4.1.4.0 and higher. The bos.sysmgt.sysbr fileset must be installed at the same level as bos.rte is on the running system.
