IMNSearch Product Information

The IMNSearch Engine product contains the IMN search engine. This search engine is used by the AIX Documentation Library Service to conduct searches of online HTML documents, and also includes the build tools that allow system administrators to build indexes of register their own HTML documents for search with the library service.

Note: A version of this search engine is shipped in the Lotus Domino Go Webserver. That version is not compatible with the AIX Documentation Library Services. This AIX version must be installed to use the AIX library services.

Package Names

IMNSearch.bld NetQuestion Index Buildtime

This package contains the build tools that a system administrator can use to build indexes for HTML documents so that they can be searched by the AIX Documentation Library Service.

IMNSearch.rte NetQuestion Search Runtime

This package contains the search engines that are used by the AIX Documentation Library Service package (bos.docsearch) to conduct searches of registered HTML documents.

Approximate Disk Space Required

The combined IMNSearch and AIX Documentation Library Services packages require approximately 20 megabytes of disk space.

Requisite Software

This package must be installed to enable the search functions in the Documentation Library (bos.docsearch) application and service. The Documentation Library Service is installed by default with the base operating system. Install this IMNSearch package after you install the base operating system.

Special Installation Notes

The combined IMNSearch and AIX Documentation Library Service packages require that a web browser and web server software be installed on the computer that these packages are installed on. Additionally, if it was not done at the factory, certain AIX configuration tasks must be done before the AIX Documentation Library Services will work properly. See the Documentation Library Service chapter in the AIX Installation Guide or in the System Administrator's guide.
